Sorbetto’s

14008 Memorial Drive, 77079.

So it’s Sunday and you feel like being one of the cool people… perhaps an itch for hanging out at the local yuppie coffee shop, then you realize that you hate the scene there.  Too much people, too much traffic, too much of the same Monday thru Friday routine.  Well, Sorbetto’s will offer you a change of environment.  It’s located away from the Galleria crowd.

This was the perfect place to go to on my Sunday to hangout.  The crowd was close to nil and they also offer free wi-fi!  It was quiet and they also have a gelato bar if you get a sweet tooth itch.  I didn’t try the gelato that day, but the selection did look mighty scrumptious.  Instead, I had my generic Italian soda, almond flavored please.  After the drink, I skipped my booty over to Terry Hershey Park for some casual running.  What a productive Sunday!

The interior was nicely decorated to remain modern yet still have that little Italy flair.  I liked it very much so, next time I’ll make it a point to try the gelato.

Cosi

Cosi

Vegi Muffaletta: Grilled eggplant, chopped green olives, banana peppers, green onions, olive oil, provolone, parmesan cheese & shredded romaine.

Pretty tasty; generous eggplant.

Cosi is a popular place for lunch here in Chicago. Expect it to be very packed from noon until 1PM or so.
Luckily, there are several locations around busy, Downtown Chicago as well as across the nation.

Even as a corporate franchise, Cosi is known to serve healthy, tasty sandwiches in a contemporary, social environment. The most distinctive trait about this cafe eatery is the open-flame hearth and their variety of flatbread sandwiches.  Ask for fresh bread.

Also serves simple Breakfast and Dinner plates.

Sandwich with chips/carrots and drink average from $6-7.

Chicago’s Own, Argo Tea Cafe

Down the street and around the corner from any college student there should always be a coffee place. Between class, I like to nook up here at Argo Tea conveniently located in Downtown Chi-town off of Randolph and State St next to Borders. It’s a good place to study, grab a light meal/snack, hook up to free wi-fi, and grab a warm boost via coffee/tea.

Argo works with several small wholesale marts as welll as Whole Foods Market in distributing. Some of their bakery products come from Sweet Thang Bakery, like this Tomato Basil Mozzarella knish/quiche:

There’s not much to say except that a nice, warm Tomato Basil is my fave knish here at Argo. They have a variety of pastries, sandwiches, and such, but it’s hard to turn this one down. Knishes are usually made with some sort of filling like so. This one was mainly eggs and mozzarella, a few slices of onion, half slices of tomatos, and full basil leaves (below).

Check out that basil!
Yep. I tore into it. SO… Good.
Baked just right.
The Bubble Tea in the back was pretty good. I ordered a medium, taking account for the ice, and for that extra boost of caffeine. Made with Black Tea (plenty of caffeine), little square pearls (with surprising good texture), and skim milk; iced.
